Welcome to the 5 DAY CALM PARENT CHALLENGE with Suzie Brown from Feed the Parent, the Mindful Parenting blog. Great to have you here!

In this challenge you'll learn some simple strategies that will help you feel less stressed as a parent, calm things down at home, and stop the shouting (yours and theirs!).

Scroll down for the videos that were posted during the live challenge - you can watch them at your own pace!

And to learn more about calm parenting, don't forget to join the Feed the Parent Facebook Group.

DAY 1 - KEEPING CALM AS A PARENT: REDUCING REACTIVITY AND ANGER

Today we'll start with the foundation: keeping you calm so that you can be the patient, connected parent you'd really rather be AND so your children will calm down and actually listen to you. Watch the video below. If you want to ask questions or leave a comment, head to the 5 Day Challenge Facebook Group, click 'Join Group' and I'll be there!

DAY 2 - EMPATHY AND MEETING THEIR DEEPER NEEDS

Today we'll look at how to use empathy to calm your kids down and teach them how to handle their big emotions at the same time. This shifts our attention away from the stress in our heads, to being able to tune in and meet our child's deeper needs (and that's when they'll really be able to calm down - over the long term too, if we keep at it!).

DAY 3 - CONNECTING TO GET COOPERATION NOT CONFLICT

Today we learn about how connection can shift our children from their overwhelmed 'downstairs' brain to be able to calm down and listen to us. We also look at why this is a better way to handle looming battles than anger and punishment.

DAY 4 - create the conditions for calm in your home

Today we look at the six key factors that could be over-stimulating your kids (and your too!) and causing their difficult behaviours - and of course what you can do to remove these stress-factors in your family life.

DAY 5 - how to create more time in your lifestyle

On our final day we look at time and how to create more of it in our busy lives - or at least create the feeling that we have more time! I've got some great strategies for you to change how you use and perceive your time each day.

Make sure you get your free Workbook to go with these videos - it's got the Daily Action worksheets plus the notes from the videos.
